International Communications Specialist (vervuld)


Job description
For our client KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation we are searching for an International Communications Specialist who loves to travel!
KNCV is leading partner in ‘Challenge TB’ (CTB), the USAID-funded 5-year global program to decrease TB mortality and morbidity in high burdened countries. KNCV leads the international consortium, with eight international partner organizations, within a Project Management Unit (PMU).

The International Communications Specialist is a member of the PMU (16 m/f) and coordinates the development, production and dissemination of tools, communication materials and strategies. You work closely with the PMU Coordinator/Director, the members of the unit and the general Communication division to develop new publications and new strategies to transfer project results and deliverables to those that need them (governments, health facility staff, USAID, Congress, implementing partners, community members, civil society organizations, etc.). 

We are looking for a creative Communications/PR Specialist whose main focus will be to ensure visibility of the CTB-project, and highlights its results and successes to the world. 

Your main tasks will be:
•    Creating and maintaining a strong brand for the CTB project;
•    Ensuring compliance with both CTB’s branding strategy and USAID’s branding guidelines;
•    Coordinate the development and implementation of communication tools, both internal and external;
•    Taking care of the design, layout, proofreading and preparation of project documents for digital and printed publication;
•    Writing(!), editing and publishing copy for printed, online and social media for different audiences;
•    Coordinating media and pr activities;
•    Follow news and developments in tuberculosis and turn them into communication opportunities for the project;
•    Answering requests from USAID and coalition partners;
•    This job requires frequent international travel (20-30% of the time) to Washington (mainly), Africa and Central Asia.


Education & experience
•    Bachelor or Master in Communications or Journalism;
•    At least five years of experience in international Communications & PR and in creating and maintaining a brand;
•    Exceptional writing and editing skills in English, including the ability to write for a variety of audiences and communications mediums;
•    Experience in maintaining (the content of) websites;
•    Media relations experience, including writing press releases and statements, building media lists and collecting media mentions;
•    Information and communications skills including social media;
•    Knowledge of relevant software applications (Excel, Powerpoint);
•    Speaking and writing English fluently;
•    Attention to detail, strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
•    Excellent interpersonal and networking skills;
•    Independent, self-driven, creative, innovative, proactive.


Conditions of employment
Our client offers an informal work atmosphere in an international environment where initiative is the norm. The experienced team is highly-motivated and self-driven. 
You will receive a gross salary of approx. € 54.000 per year (38 hours, including 13th month and 8% holiday allowance) plus 7 weeks annual leave! For international candidates KNCV offers an interesting ‘expat package’.
We are looking for a candidate for 32-38 hours per week, starting as soon as possible. 
The offer of our client is for a fixed-term contract for a year, with the intention to extend the contract dependent on performance.
